Dromore Darts Machine Claims
Fourth Tyrone Individual Championship Title
Over 80 Tyrone based dart players took part in the 6th annual Tyrone Individual
Darts Championships (only limited
to Tyrone based players) at the Weigh Inn venue Omagh Co.
Tyrone at the weekend past (Saturday 14th March), with this great tournament also
attracting a large turnout of spectators who turned up on the day to watch
and support the local talent that was taking part representing almost every
town throughout the Tyrone County, but it was the current champion and World
PDC member Felix Mc Brearty (Dromore) who was crowned champion once again
retaining his title he won 12-months-ago picking up the winners cheque for
£500 defeating current N. Ireland International Shane Pearson (Cookstown)
in the final 6-2.

The Dromore darts machine continued
his fine run of form in these Tyrone darts championships adding his name to
the roll of honours list for the fourth time in the 6th year history
of this wonderful event only dropping six games in total from all his matches
throughout the day to claim the 2009 title, and also recording a number of
very high checkouts and a lot of maximum scores of 180 along the way to victory
which was very powerful in his deserved victory…….

This was another fantastic performance
and a great achievement from this Dromore darts player and without doubt remains the best darts player throughout
the Tyrone County after another unbelievable display recording his forth tournament
title in this annual event which was the biggest and strongest field of Tyrone
players ever in the history of these great championships.

The four times Champion claimed
the title with victories over Kieran Pearson (Cookstown, last-64, 4-1), David
Guy (Omagh, last-32, 4-0), Colm Hagan (Newtownsteart, last-16, 4-0), Colin
Maxwell (Castlederg, ¼-finals, 4-1), Luke Mc Bride (Dungannon, semi-finals,
5-2) and current N. Ireland international Shane Pearson (Cookstown, Final,
6-2) to be crowned 2009 Tyrone Individual Darts Champion……..
The organisers would like to take
this opportunity to thank each and every player, all the board markers, including
Charlie Mc Guigan (Newtownstewart) for marking the final and Luke Mc Bride
(Dungannon) for calling all the scores in the final, all the venues who staged
the qualifiers throughout the year, making this event what it is today and
not forgetting a big thank-you to all the local Tyrone newspapers for all
there support advertising this local and prestigious tournament.

Highlights:
Some of the highlights that stood
out throughout the day of this wonderful tournament was the brilliant 167
finish recorded by Justin Mc Guigan (Tattyreagh) which was the highest checkout
of the tournament with great individual performances coming from Ronan Mc
Mahon (Carrickmore) and Luke Mc Bride (Dungannon) reaching their first semi-finals
in the history of this tournament knocking out some fancied players along
the way and also a fantastic last-32 match between Colin Maxwell (Castlederg)
and twice runner-up Danny Mc Callion (Strabane) with Colin taking the match
on a 4-3 score-line…….

Future Talent:
After the final and presentation
a young lad from Strabane called Tony Kilday asked the organisers could he
have a challenge game with the 2009 champion Felix Mc Brearty stating that
he was one of Felix’s best supporters and who also follows the Dromore Darts
Machine progress both in the newspapers and his TV matches………
Felix agreed to play young Tony
playing one game of 501 with Tony showing that he’s one for the future recording
a few scores of 100 defeating the champion in front of the large crowd which
stayed on to watch this arranged match……..

Note:
The organisers will be changing a few rules regarding
these Tyrone Individual Darts Championships with all players except the 2007
champion Mickey Mansell (Coalisland) and four times champion Felix Mc Brearty
(Dromore) will have to qualify through qualifiers and also there is a small
number of players on their last chance of being banned from this event all
together because they qualify each year and done bother to turn up messing
up the draw, letting their own venue down and failing to contact the tournament
organisers, which is also disrespect to their fellow players and will not
be accepted by the tournament organisers……
All venues and players will be asked to contact the
organisers before next years event starts to see if players are eligible to
