NORTHWEST 8-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP:
The former Irish 8ball champion John Mc Mahon (Cavan) played fantastic pool and rolled back the years throughout these 2009 annual Northwest 8-Ball Championships to claim his second tournament victory on Irelandís Pub Players 8Ball Pool Tour defeating a host of top players along the way including a superb 6-1 defeat of top professional pool player Ronan McCarthy in the final to be crowned 2009 champion........

Over this last number of months John is putting in a lot of hard practise for the up and coming 2009 World 8Ball Championships in Blackpool starting next weekend, with the Cavan player regaining his place on the Irish International 8Ball Pool Team for this prestigious event, putting in four hours a day of practise and that was plain to be seen after the performance this former Irish champion put in the claim the 2009 Northwest title at the beautiful Arena 7 venue in Letterkenny......

On route to victory John had to bring out all his experience on two occasions just getting over the line on last game decider starting of his victory campaign in the last-32 with a 5-0 win over Angus McGee (Donegal) and followed that up with further victories over Niall McMenamin (Fermanagh, 5-1, last-16), Daryl Beattie (Tyrone, 5-4, ľ-finals), Gavin Geraghty (Meath, 5-4, semi-finals) and then defeating N.Irelandís professional Ronan McCarthy (Down) in the final on a 6-1 score-line.......

THANKS:
The tournament organisers, players and spectators couldnít thank the Arena 7 venue enough for all the support and hospitality they give to everyone over the weekend making these championships and Pro-Tour event a major success with very high praise going to the venues hard working, and friendly staff and also to the owner Enda, and the venue management Darren and Daniel who made sure everything ran smoothly and not forgetting Shay Given who kindly took time to make the presentation to Pro-Tour winner & runner-up.........
